Assistant Coaches & Open Gym

Rick Buboltz (7 year Varsity Assistant) who volunteers his time, attended Sheboygan Schools. Was a 4-year starter at North. Teams went to 3 state tournaments including a State Championship. Received a scholarship to play D-1 baseball at UW-Milwaukee. Also played football at North and is a Dodgers fan.

Steve Peterson (6 year Varsity Assistant & 1 year JV Assistant) who volunteers his time, attended Antigo schools. Long time head coach for the Sheboygan Diamonds Youth Baseball teams, past-president of Diamonds Youth Baseball organization and of the Legion Post 83 Baseball Booster Club. A member of the Sheboygan Elks and a Yankee fan.  Enjoys golf.

Eric Schmitz (5 years Varsity Assistant) who volunteers his time, attended Fond du Lac High school. Schmitz played for and was a pitcher for UW-Whitewater and appeared in the DIII College World Series.  In the summer of 2013, he pitched for a baseball team in the Milwaukee area and for the Sheboygan A’s.

John Van Veghel starts his twenty-fifth (25) year coaching at North High. VanVeghel, a North high grad played football, basketball (yes, he played for Coach Desotell), and baseball. He then went on to the University of Wisconsin-Lacrosse and earned a degree in Physical Education. VanVeghel now teaches at Washington Elementary school here in Sheboygan. He also represents the teachers as a union rep. VanVeghel also coached girls basketball for a number of years at North. VanVeghel is very active in the Sheboygan Elk’s club, enjoys playing golf and bowling.

And last but not least, the NHS Baseball Program would like to thank Steve Peterson, Tim Moyer, and Eric Schmitz, for running all our pre-season open gyms. These gentlemen volunteer their time to help the North high progarm and we appreciaite their effort. A thank you is not enough for all they do for us. Steve and Dave each one had a son that played at North and went on to play college baseball.
